Vodafone Idea Limited is an Indian telecommunications operator headquartered in Mumbai , Maharashtra and Gandhinagar , Gujarat in India . Vodafone Idea is a pan India integrated GSM operator providing 2G , 3G and 4G , 4G+ and VoLTE services. As on 31 March 2020, Vodafone Idea has a subscriber base of 319.19 million. It is the third largest mobile telecommunication network in India and the ninth largest mobile telecommunication network in the world. On 31 August 2018, Vodafone (India) merged with Idea Cellular to form Vodafone Idea Limited .A new unit named Vodafone currently holds 10.1% stake in the combined entity and Aditya Birla Group holds 26%. Kumar Mangalam Birla is the chairman of the merged company. Ravinder Takkar, ex-CEO of Vodafone Romania, is the current CEO of the company.
